Today, Justin Trudeau promised he would step down as leader of the Canadian Liberal Party, soon. In a few months or so, more or less. After Parliament takes a long break for everyone to catch their breath. And it seems that just about every news organization is saying it’s a big deal.
What’s a big deal is how much lead-in time this guy has given himself to win his position back. A vote of non-confidence, which, according to all other Canadian political parties, was certain to happen within a week of the first Parliamentary session of 2025, would have triggered a process that would have resulted in an election in February or early March.
By proroguing Parliament until March 24, Trudeau has given himself three quiet months to launch a stealth campaign to keep his position. I heard the first evidence of it this morning.
